The new, 4-door Mercedes-AMG sports car will soon celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show. With the new model, the performance and sports car and brand in Affalterbach is adding a 4-Door Coupe to the AMG GT family. The new Mercedes-AMG model has been conceived as an upmarket replacement for today’s CLS 63 and a rival to the Porsche Panamera. Sales for the production model are scheduled to begin in September 2018. The car will be launched with the same 604bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre petrol V8, nine-speed automatic gearbox and fully variable four-wheel drive system as the latest E63 S 4Matic, upon which it is largely based. However, Mercedes officials have said there are also concrete plans for it to be sold with hybrid drivelines from 2019 onwards - suggesting the spotted harder version could arrive as part of that line-up.
There was definitely no shortage of electric vehicle creations at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, but the Piëch Mark Zero electric sports car concept promises to deliver more practical solutions to the electric car equation, namely quicker charging times and better heat management.Cloaked under a body that bears a part-Jaguar part-Aston resemblance, the Mark Zero features a new type of battery that is, not only able to deliver a range of 500km on the WLTP test cycle, but “hardly heats up during charging and discharging phases”.
The Cupra Formentor is a study with a 245-hp plug-in hybrid drive. The sports crossover should already be on our roads in one year. In addition, Seat presents the Seat el-born, the brand’s first fully electric vehicle. The el-born offers more than 400 km of range and is well equipped for the future. A two-second teaser video and a succinct two-sentence press release is all we’re getting from Lexus at this point in regards to the company’s upcoming electric concept. Toyota’s luxury division says the new zero-emissions showcar is a window into the company’s electric and autonomous future, so not only will the vehicle lack a combustion engine, but it also might not have a steering wheel. It is believed the electric concept will take after the LF-SA from 2015, therefore we’re expecting a small hatchback developed mainly for city use. Pictured below, the old concept is said to go through some changes to bring it closer to what a production model would look like. That being said, we’re getting the feeling the new concept will still have an exaggerated futuristic design judging by this sole teaser image.
