He made this move before he left the White House in a last effort of wielding power. This expensive, full-time security detail is an unexpected move for most. The extended security detail could cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Given the amount of traveling that the Trump children do, the cost could be astronomical.
Former national security adviser John Bolton didn't mince words after US President Donald Trump vetoed the annual bill to fund the US military. Trump's chief complaint with the bill is that it called for the renaming of military bases named after Confederate military figures. The must-pass, $741 billion bill was passed with widespread bipartisan support. According to Business Insider, Bolton told Trump to 'get out of the way,' and said Trump was 'not a conservative.' President Donald Trump is unhappy with the election results, According to multiple reports has recently toyed with the idea of using the military to overturn the election results. The idea alarmed many, including Elizabeth Neumann, a former official in the Trump-era Department of Homeland Security. Neumann argued that the right-wing extremists could interpret such talk as a signal from Trump to enact violence. She said that such groups "look at this as a dog whistle." Trump's enthusiasm for using his emergency powers to reverse his loss to Joe Biden has rattled even some of his usual allies.
The Defense Business Board is a Pentagon advisory group that has recently undergone a purge at the hands of the Trump administration. Now, one of the survivors of that purge has resigned in protest. When looking at a map, the leader of the free world had to be told where the countries were located.
The Pentagon has issued a notice to commanders known as a 'warning order.' According to CNN, officials say it's to begin planning to draw down the number of troops in Afghanistan to 2,500 troops and 2,500 in Iraq by Jan 15. US military commanders expect President Donald Trump to issue a formal order to begin further troop withdrawal before Trump leaves office on January 20th. The Pentagon appears ready to remove thousands more US troops from Afghanistan and Iraq. However, it also indicates Trump may fall short of fulfilling one of his core promises to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan before he leaves office. Multiple top military officials, including former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, said conditions were not yet right for complete troop withdrawal.
