Global electric mobility technology brand ZEEKR (Zikr) announced at the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show that it will introduce its cutting-edge intelligent luxury EVs to Europe as part of the brand’s mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility. Launching in this key region marks an important milestone in the brand’s ambitious global growth strategy.The first models for Europe are the flagship ZEEKR 001 luxury shooting brake, which will deliver a range of around 600 km (subject to WLTP homologation), and the ZEEKR X urban SUV. They will debut in Sweden and the Netherlands in late 2023 with other countries and models coming soon after.Built on the EV-focused SEA architecture, the ZEEKR 001 and ZEEKR X will offer customers in Europe an unrivaled balance of design, technology, driving dynamics, performance and safety, together with long range and fast charging.ZEEKR vehicles are created around a human-centric philosophy which ensures that every element of the vehicle is carefully considered, aiming to enhance and enrich the driving experience. At the same time, advanced connectivity – including over-the-air software updates – ensures that the vehicles can adapt to the evolving needs of consumers over time.The ZEEKR 001 and ZEEKR X were developed with these requirements in mind from the very beginning at ZEEKR’s Global Design and R&D centers in Gothenburg, Sweden. ZEEKR’s European team, composed of more than 1,500 engineers and designers, are already in place and have produced several successful models for the Geely Group. Their long-standing experience is a core advantage for ZEEKR’s successful entry into Europe.
The mid-size luxury SUV, which sits between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport in the family line-up, offers customers the perfect balance of design and technology – now with electric power.The new 2.0-litre four-cylinder P400e plug-in hybrid offers a smooth and refined drive, producing a combined 404PS and 640Nm of torque from its 300PS petrol engine and 105kW electric motor, with an impressive 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds). A 17.1kWh lithium-ion battery, located under the boot floor, can be charged to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes†† using a fast DC charge point, or 1 hour 40 minutes using a standard 7kW wallbox. With zero tailpipe emissions in electric mode, an impressive real-world all-electric range of 53km (33 miles), fuel economy of up to 2.2 litres/100km (130.2mpg) and CO2 emissions from just 49g/km, the Range Rover Velar is now even more sustainable by design.

With a new generation of owners now getting behind the wheel of the IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai will spark even more excitement at the 102nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on June 23, 2024. Two 641-horsepower IONIQ 5 N cars will go after the Electric Production SUV/Crossover record as part of a four-car effort.The drivers of the IONIQ 5 N vehicles going for the Electric Production SUV/Crossover record are Paul Dallenbach and Ron Zaras. Dallenbach is an eleven-time PPIHC winner and set an overall record in 1993. Zaras is a PPIHC rookie and the newest team member. Zaras, a media personality and former Hoonigan executive, was recently chosen to showcase the story of a motorsport enthusiast preparing for this massive challenge of competing at Pikes Peak.In addition, Hyundai will debut a modified specification IONIQ 5 N to compete at PPIHC prior to the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring on May 30. Two of these additional IONIQ 5 N models will be driven by Dani Sordo and Robin Shute. Shute is a four-time overall winner and King of the Mountain title holder at Pikes Peak. Sordo is a Spanish World Rally Championship driver for Hyundai Motorsport.
The Nissan X-Trail has welcomed another important accolade, with the new model named the Best Medium-Sized SUV in the RAC’s Best Drives 2023.It joins a growing list of awards for the Nissan X-Trail, which, since arriving as an all-new model, has been named Australia's Best Medium SUV at the Drive Car of The Year Awards, been recognised by the Women’s World Car of The Year 2023 judges, and received a 2023 Good Design Award, among a host of other local and international honours.The Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia’s Best Drives judging recognises the best of the approximately 60 vehicles they road tested over 2023, with judges focusing on value, safety, design and function, fit for purpose, fuel economy within class, and ride and handling. The motoring group highlighted the range-opening Nissan X-Trail ST for its winning combination of quality and value compared to its competition.
