Iran's Islamic Revolution, 40 years on: Youth ponders change

Description

Forty years ago, the fall of the monarchy in Iran, after 2,500 years, marked the beginning of a new era. Iranians had risen up against the Shah and saw his government crumble amid the Islamic Revolution on February 11, 1979. If those early days were a time of hope, rising unemployment, inflation and US sanctions today have many Iranians saying they are in no mood to celebrate. Among them are some of Iran’s youth. Young people make up roughly 60 percent of the country’s population, but a third of them are unemployed, hit hard by the economic crisis. France 24 has been meeting with young Iranian to get their perspective and brings you this report.
