Google Fiber Is Shutting Down One City's Services

Description

The gigabit-speed internet access provider Google Fiber is shutting down its broadband service in Louisville, KY. Google Fiber is operated by Access, a subsidiary of Google parent company Alphabet. Google Fiber blamed its failure in Louisville on "challenges that have been disruptive to residents... ...and caused service issues for our customers," the company said in a blog post. Residents have complained that Google Fiber employees left cables exposed in the streets. Google Fiber launched in Louisville in October 2017, and will officially shut down on April 15. However, Business Insider reports but it's still operating in 11 other cities.
