    According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, France's government defended the tactics of riot police who forced several dozen detained high-school students to kneel in rows with their hands held behind their heads or handcuffed following violent protests west of Paris. This week, students in France have reportedly been blocking access to high schools across the country in protest of President Emmanuel Macron's education reforms. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told a news conference, “Over the past few days, the students have been joined by about 100 hooded youths armed with clubs and incendiary devices and determined to pick a fight with police."

    Kai Koerber is a survivor of the February 14 school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. After his experience, he founded the Societal Reform Corporation. It's a non-profit that aims to help improve the mental health curriculum of schools, says Business Insider. Koerber also continues to fight gun laws, but wants to focus on mental health as well. He believes "meditation and mindfulness exercises" are essential devices.

  • Gunman, Two Students Dead After New Mexico High School Shooting

    According to police and officials on Thursday, a suspected shooter opened fire at a high school in New Mexico, killing two students before being killed. The incident occurred at Aztec High School in the city of Aztec, about 200 miles from Santa Fe. The New Mexico State Police said no other injuries were reported, that the school was evacuated, and families of the victims were notified. Police said there were no other credible threats to students.

  • Five Utah High School Students Stabbed

    On Tuesday, school officials have said that five students were stabbed inside a Utah high school boys' locker room by a 16-year-old male suspect, who then turned the weapon on himself. The Alpine School District said in a statement, that the incident happened at Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah, and prompted a brief lockdown of the school. The school district said, that the stabbing suspect was arrested by a school resource officer before he and the victims were taken to local hospitals, saying the injuries they suffered ranged from minor to critical. Police are still investigating the details, surrounding the circumstances of the attack or the main motive.
