"The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 got off to a flying start for France today, as they were awarded the first gold medals of the Games by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The French team, made up of Cedric Arci and Mickael Rachin, took gold in the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge, in which 12 nations went head-to-head in a test of driving and navigation skills. Watched by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, teams comprising of a driver and navigator completed challenges in a Jaguar I-PACE. The challenges included driving through a water slalom obstacle, a precision driving test and a ‘smart cone’ course. With the two quickest teams qualifying for the gold medal showdown, it was France who came out on top, finishing faster than silver medallists Australia, who were represented by Craig McGrath and Scott Reynolds. After finishing with the third quickest time in the heats, the United Kingdom team of Mark Perkins and Daniel Bingley took bronze. Prof. Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said: “Having been Presenting Partner of the Invictus Games since they were founded in 2014, everyone at Jaguar Land Rover is hugely passionate about this event. The Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge will decide the first medals of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018. it will be staged on historic Cockatoo Island against a stunning backdrop of sydney harbour.
Jaguar Land Rover debuted their first fully electric vehicle in China – the Jaguar I-PACE. The car was revealed to the Chinese market at the Beijing Motor Show. China is a significant market for Jaguar Land Rover, and with nearly 1 in every 50 autos sold in the country last year an electric one, the British automaker recognise that the East Asian nation is well on its way to an all-electric future. This supports Jaguar Land Rover’s electrification plans, as they too have announced that every new model line will be electrified from 2020.
At the New York International Auto Show, Jaguar Land Rover has globally revealed the next model to emerge from JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division - the fastest and most powerful F-PACE yet. Drawing on Jaguar Land Rover’s extensive all-terrain expertise, the F-PACE SVR features a host of advanced technologies to ensure superb all-surface performance. All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics, All Surface Progress Control and Adaptive Surface Response ensure the SUV can handle conditions in all weathers. Additionally at this year’s New York International Auto Show, Jaguar Land Rover showcased its largest line-up ever from both brands. The show hosted the global debut of a new derivative within the Jaguar line-up, as well as North American debuts of the all-new, all-electric Jaguar I-PACE production vehicle and the limited edition Range Rover SV Coupe.
