The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is the new top model in the Mercedes-AMG range. It combines highly dynamic driving characteristics with increased suitability for everyday use. High-tech components such as the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with semi-active roll stabilisation, standard rear-axle steering and active aerodynamics sharpen the active driving profile. The sporty coupé is also taking its output to the road for the first time with the fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+. Combined with the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, this results in a driving experience of the highest level. The exclusive AMG sports car architecture with an elaborate composite aluminium body structure allows the car to be configured as a 2+2 seater. For a sports car in this class, this means a very generous interior for passengers and plenty of space for their luggage. As the fifth independent model series after SLS, the first generation of the two-door GT, GT 4-door Coupé and SL, the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé once again demonstrates the high technological expertise of the Affalterbach development team. The vehicle will be available as an AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé with 430 kW (585 PS) of output in October 2023 and as an AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ Coupé with 350 kW (476 PS) of output in July 2024.
The new look of the Mercedes-AMG E63 4MATIC+ models, which catches the eye at first glance, is also down to technical reasons to a large extent. In order to ensure optimum air throughput around the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine including charge air cooling, the outer air intakes in the jet-wing are not only particularly large; they also guide the air to where it is required in a targeted manner with the aid of two transverse louvres. Designers and aerodynamics experts worked closely together during development. Their insights not only resulted in the striking AMG bodystyling but also in the optimised aerobalance - for agile handling characteristics on country roads and optimum driving stability at high speed on the motorway. The aerodynamics experts were also able to reduce the wind resistance even further.A further striking visual feature is a harmoniously fitting flap in high-gloss black which extends across the entire front apron, continues into the outer edge of the jet-wing and rounds this off outwards to the sides. The front splitter is either kept in the colour of the vehicle (base model), in Silver Shadow (S-Model), in high-gloss black (with optional AMG Night Package) or in carbon fibre (with the optional AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre Package I). More powerful-looking and 27 millimetres wider, the wheel arches accommodate the greater track width and the larger wheels on the front axle - also a functional advantage.
Mercedes-AMG is consistently strengthening its brand identity: the new E 53 4MATIC + Coupé and the Cabriolet have now also received the characteristic, AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical louvres. Their A-shaped design and the flatter full LED headlights create a powerful impression that emphasizes the width. The newly shaped front apron in the A-wing design also has a positive effect on the overall vehicle proportions. Thoroughly upgraded, the interior shows even more AMG family affiliation. Large displays, the new AMG Performance steering wheel and the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific functions and displays create the typical Performance Luxury ambience. The electrified 3.0-liter engine with double charging through an exhaust gas turbocharger and an additional electric compressor has an output of 320 kW (435 hp) and provides a maximum torque of 520 Nm. Its EQ Boost starter generator briefly supplies an additional 16 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque and also feeds the 48 volt on-board network. Other highlights of the new models include the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and the fully variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC +.
The range of compact 35-series entry-level models to the world of Mercedes-AMG is now complete. The seven-member family extends from the A-Class as a hatchback and notchback (in a long version for China) to the CLA Coupé and Shooting Brake and the seven-seater GLB – and is now rounded off by the new GLA 35 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption 7.5-7.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 171-170 g/km). The technical basis is already well-proven: the agile high-torque 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine delivers 225 kW (306 hp), which is variably distributed to all four wheels via the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and the all-wheel drive. The dynamic performance (acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds) and the Performance driving experience are aimed at sporty and lifestyle-oriented target groups.
Powerful proportions with short overhangs and off-road-oriented design as well as optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a special off-road light which helps detect obstacles in front of the vehicle at low speeds – the new Mercedes-Benz GLB is a versatile SUV. And a spacious family car: it is the first Mercedes-Benz in this segment that is optionally available as a seven-seater. The two seats in row three can be used by people up to 1.68 metres in height. With powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines, the latest driving assistance systems with cooperative support for the driver, the intuitively operated infotainment system MBUX plus the comprehensive convenience control ENERGIZING Comfort, the new family member has all the strengths of the current compact-class generation from Mercedes-Benz. Also in the starting blocks: The new Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC as an unrivalled alternative in the segment of compact SUVs.
