Seven appointments too good to be missed on seven European circuits brought together over 4,000 fans of the brand with the scorpion badge.Over 3,000 test drives, on the road and on the track, in the iconic, new Abarth 595 range, developed to embody the dual personality of performance and style, and the adrenaline-fuelled Abarth 124 spider, the racing version of which (the 124 rally) is the recent winner of the R-GT World Championship collecting 40 or so category victories.This edition was as exciting as ever with plenty of thrilling activities, including an authentic rally experience, laps on the track by the side of professional drivers, parades of classic Abarth cars, stunts and acrobatics, captivating DJ sets and animated gaming areas.The success of the Abarth Days parallels that of the brand. The 124 rally won the World Championship in the R-GT category and sales are up by about 15 percent on 2017, also as a result of the new Abarth 595 range recently introduced at the Targa Florio.
In only its second racing season, the Abarth 124 rally has established itself as the king of the R-GT class, recording more than 40 class victories in 12 national championships.Team Milano Racing’s 124 rally, driven by the French pair Raphael Astier and Frédéric Vauclare, secured the FIA R-GT Cup by winning an incredible 4 races out of 5, demonstrating the performance, reliability and development that Abarth has achieved.The Abarth 124 rally also dominated the ranking in this championship with an amazing 6 drivers in the top 6 places in the table. Behind the French champion, in 2nd and 3rd places respectively, were Italian drivers Andrea Nucita and Andrea Modanesi.
In its second season of competition, the Abarth 124 rally is consolidating its unbeatable position in the GT category: the French pair Raphael Astier and Frédéric Vauclaire from the Milano Racing Team sealed their victory in the FIA R-GT Cup, already an arithmetical certainty since the previous race, with another win in the last race in the championship, the Rallye du Valais, held in Switzerland, also achieving an excellent ninth place overall and victory amongst the 2WD drive cars. This wins brings the French pair's victory total to four, out of four races valid for the FIA R-GT World Cup. The French crew ran a perfect race. Setting off in the lead right from the initial special stage, they kept up an excellent pace all the way to the finish. Another Abarth 124 rally, in the colours of the Swiss Zeughaus Garage team, finished in third place in the GT category with Beat and Janine Wyssen.
In 2018 ŠKODA won not just FIA World Rally Championship (WRC 2), but also many regional and national championships, incl. FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), FIA South American Rally Championship (CODASUR) and FIA African Rally Championship (ARC).
Both Porsche 911 RSR fielded by the Porsche GT Team finished on the podium at the FIA World Sports Car Championship WEC in Shanghai. Porsche also had reason to celebrate in the GTE-Am class. The three Porsche 911 RSR campaigned by the customer team Dempsey Proton Racing and Project 1 concluded the race on positions one to three.
