Air Travel Unions Say Government Shutdown Causing A Lot Of Issues

Unions representing U.S. air traffic controllers, pilots and flight attendants sent out a joint statement. They said the partial government shutdown is causing a situation where they “cannot even calculate the level of risk.” According to Gizmodo, the statement released also said the shutdown is “unconscionable.” They said they cannot “predict the point at which the entire system will break.” Additionally, they said they are forced to pay unpaid overtime and have a backlog in new hires.
