Migrants attempting the treacherous Channel crossing arrive at the southeastern English coast in a small boat, before being taken into the custody of the British border force in Dover. More than 100,000 migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats from France to southeast England since Britain began publicly recording the arrivals in 2018, official figures revealed on August 11. Images of the Port of Dover in southeast England after six Afghan men died on Saturday 12 August when a boat carrying around sixty migrants sank in an attempt to reach the UK, according to French officials. Three French ships, a helicopter and a plane were mobilised to search the area off Sangatte in northern France for survivors, along with two British ships. IMAGES
Border force staff go about their days and boats navigate in and out at the port of Dover after at least four people died when a small boat apparently packed with migrants capsized in freezing temperatures in the Channel overnight, according to the UK government.
