The level of the River Seine exceeds four metres in some areas of Paris, following heavy rains throughout the weekend. According to the latest forecasts, the alert level remains yellow, meaning major damage is likely to be avoided although access to the river banks remains closed. IMAGES
The French department of Hérault has been given a severe orange weather warning, after heavy rains and floods caused damage in the city of Béziers. IMAGES
The River Garonne is slightly overflowing in Bordeaux, flooding cycle paths along the quays, while the Gironde department in south-west France is under an orange flood warning for Monday. IMAGES
In northern France's Pas-de-Calais department, two rivers -- the Aa and the Liane -- have been placed on red alert for flooding. In recent days, the region has seen flooding that has caused extensive damage with no decrease in water levels expected until Friday, according to Météo-France. IMAGES
Rivers overflow their banks across a large swath of southwest France after heavy rains lashed the region, leading to evacuations of dozens of residents. In the small town of Peyrehorade, in the Landes region, the flood waters are slowly starting to recede. IMAGES
