At a press conference ahead of the Frankfurt International Auto Show, Michael Perschke, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, along with Johannes-Jörg Rüger, CEO of Bosch Engineering GmbH, and Ralf Göttel, CEO of BENTELER, announced a strategic collaboration to jointly develop a high-performance electric vehicle (EV) platform. Automobili Pininfarina, Bosch Engineering and BENTELER will evaluate the best technical concept as well as the market potential for the platform that will underpin future Automobili Pininfarina cars. The parties have also agreed to evaluate opportunities to provide a basis for other car brands’ performance EVs to attain added synergies and enable a more rapid adoption of electro-mobility across all market segments, including the fast-growing luxury and performance markets. Automobili Pininfarina launched its stunning pure-electric 1,900hp Battista hypercar in North America – just one year after the company was introduced at the 2018 Rome Formula E race. Shown in the days leading up to the New York Auto Show, the production-ready model was debuted during an exclusive, invite-only event at Studio 525 in Chelsea by Michael Perschke, CEO and Luca Borgogno, Design Director. During the event, one of only 150 Battistas, painted in a stunning colourway of Grigio Luserna satin-grey carbon with Blu Iconica design accents, was on display. The world-first car was revealed to an excited audience of car collectors, supercar owners, business leaders, automotive influencers and members of the media.To celebrate its arrival in the world’s biggest market for both supercars and electric cars, a new film of the Battista in action, driving through the streets of New York has been released.
A revolution in automotive performance, design and collaboration is revealed with the Pininfarina Battista – the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance GT.Built in Italy, the Battista will be the most powerful Italian-made car of all time. When it arrives in 2020 it will deliver a level of performance that is unachievable today in any road-legal sports car featuring internal combustion engine technology. Faster than a current Formula 1 race car in its 0 -100 km/h sub-two second sprint, and with 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque to hand, Battista will combine extreme engineering and technology in a zero emissions package.2020 also marks the 90th anniversary of the legendary Pininfarina SpA design house, which has taken the design brief for the Battista and produced a classic Pininfarina: an elegant form that seamlessly integrates the car’s innovative engineering solutions that will support unprecedented performance. It is the same design principle of form and function in harmony as seen in classic Pininfarina cars reaching back to the Cisitalia 202 of 1947 and through more than 60 Ferraris, with the latest launched this decade.The Pininfarina Battista’s place in automotive history is defined by its name.
