Makati, Dec 4 (EFE/EPA).- The well-known Philippine journalist Maria Ressa on Friday attended an arraignment hearing on her second cyber-defamation case filed by businessman Wilfredo Keng. Keng filed a case against Ressa over a tweet she posted on February 16, 2019. The journalist was already convicted of cyber-defamation in June following a lawsuit also filed by Keng in 2017 due to an article published by Rappler in May 2012, in which the businessman was linked to drug trafficking and human trafficking allegations based on an intelligence report. Manila, June 15 (EFE).- Philippine journalist Maria Ressa was convicted on Monday in a cyber libel case for which she faces up to six years in prison, and described the verdict as "devastating.”"The decision for me is devastating because it essentially says that we are wrong," Ressa said in a press conference on her way out of the court after the announcement of the verdict. "It’s a blow to us, but it’s also not unexpected considering we are going to stand up against any kind of attack against press freedom."Ressa, named 2018 Person of the Year by TIME magazine, in 2012 founded Rappler, a media outlet that has uncovered several scandals involving President Rodrigo Duterte and was first in reporting abuses committed in the war on drugs campaign he launched after coming to power in 2016.(Camera: FRANCIS MALASIG)FOOTAGE SHOWS JOURNALIST MARIA RESSA ARRIVING IN COURT TO RECEIVE CYBER DEFAMATION VERDICT IN MANILA, PHILIPPINES.
