Images show the scene after an unknown gunman opened fire near an office of Russia's FSB security service in central Moscow, causing casualties and prompting the security service to "neutralise" the shooter. The gunfire broke out around 18:45 local time (1545 GMT) by the office, in an area close to the main headquarters of the FSB security service in Lubyanka Square the heart of the Russian capital. Helicopters and emergency service vehicles have rushed to Crocus City Hall after gunmen opened fire on a rock concert at the suburban Moscow theatre which was then set ablaze, killing an estimated 40 people and wounding at least 100 more, according to Russia's FSB. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on the Telegram messaging app. IMAGES
Russia's emergencies ministry releases footage of a fire raging through an office building in western Moscow, saying that over 120 people have been evacuated. The blaze covered an area of 1,000 square meters, the ministry says, adding that more than 340 people and around 100 pieces of equipment were battling the fire. IMAGES
Speaking in Moscow on Tuesday, Russian Minister of Sports Vitali Mutko commented on the World Anti-Doping Agency's report which alleges to have uncovered state-sponsored doping programmes for Russian athletes at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. He slammed WADA, saying that it became a "punitive organisation" and it "places itself above the movement: it dictates the rules, it extends the lists and includes an endless amount of medication into the lists, it doesn't care about athletes, about their health".
Professor Richard McLaren presented the findings of his World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commissioned report into allegations of Russian state sponsored doping at a conference in Toronto on Monday. He described the methodology allegedly used by Russian authorities to cover up doping by the country's athletes at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014.
