"The 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine of Mercedes-Benz X 350 d 4MATIC with common-rail direct injection impresses with its sheer assertiveness. Its maximum torque of 550 Nm is available over a wide engine speed range from 1400 to 3200 rpm. This means that high torque is already available from low engine speeds. Whether for a sporty driving style, comfortable long-distance touring, or off-road driving in difficult conditions – the V6 always ensures serene and efficient progress. Its special features include lightweight design, the single-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for particularly agile engine response, and the innovative NANOSLIDE® cylinder liner coating also used in Formula 1. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission included as standard, complete with steering wheel shift paddles, operates with no interruption in tractive power during gearchanges. This improves the handling on gradients, in off-road terrain, and when towing a trailer. Further advantages include fast shift operation and a low engine speed level. This has a positive effect especially with regard to efficiency and noise levels. The wide gear spacing allows an individual driving experience via the DYNAMIC SELECT system. Manual gear changes are also possible using the shift paddles on the steering wheel."

"The permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive system in conjunction with the V6 diesel engine will become available mid-2018. It will give the X-Class's handling a superior, clearly defined edge - for instance in wintry conditions. In addition, it enables better moving off and accelerating on poor road surfaces or in unfavourable weather conditions. The permanent all-wheel drive system features a two-stage transfer case, which is flange-mounted to the 7G-TRONIC PLUS main transmission. It is fitted with a central differential of planetary design, which distributes the drive force between the front and rear axle at a fixed torque distribution of 40 to 60 percent. Optimum traction is guaranteed by a continuously adjustable longitudinal differential in the transfer case, in the form of an electromechanical multiplate clutch. This ensures that the traction potential of all four wheels is fully realised on demanding terrain. There are three different all-wheel drive modes: 4MAT for increased driving dynamics, 4H for improved traction off-road and 4L mode (low range). The latter has a selectable reduction gear of 1:2.9 as standard. The top speed in 4L mode is 80 km/h. In addition, a 100-percent differential lock is available for the rear axle, if desired. The combination of a controlled longitudinal differential lock (0-100 percent), rear-axle differential and reduction gear delivers good performance both on- and off-road."

Mercedes-Benz will pursue a differentiated strategic approach with its vans in the future. As presented last year (2023), the company is aiming for a premium strategy for its commercial vans. In the future, a focused luxury strategy will apply to all newly developed, privately positioned vans, as is the case for all Mercedes‑Benz passenger cars. The aim is to fully implement this strategic change with the introduction of the upcoming modular and scalable Van Electric Architecture – VAN.EA for short – from 2026. The new private midsize vans EQV and V-Class are an important milestone on this path. Both are further elevated with new exterior and interior designs. There is also an increase in comfort and safety, especially thanks to more intelligent, digital networking. The models have been available to order from Mercedes‑Benz sales partners and online since January 2024. The standard equipment has been comprehensively upgraded and thereby tailored more precisely to customer requirements. The new V-Class starts at a list price of 59,470.25 euros[1], the new EQV from 75,281.78 euros. The new V-Class also forms the basis for the V-Class Marco Polo camper van, which is offered ex factory. It starts at 80,004.89 euros1 and adopts the model's attractiveness almost completely.
