A plane carrying around 200 French citizens evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, has landed near Marseille, AFP reporters onboard the aircraft say. Images filmed onboard show the passengers, who will be placed in quarantine at a seaside holiday camp for two weeks, applauding as the plane touched down at the Istres military base. Members of France's emergency services are already stationed in front of the holiday resort of Carry-le-Rouet, near Marseille, ahead of the arrival of 200 French citizens repatriated from Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus epidemic. They will be placed under two-week quarantine before being allowed back home. IMAGES
French nationals arrive at New Delhi airport in buses chartered by the French Embassy in India, to board the first repatriation flight which is expected to take about 500 French nationals back home. One hundred forty six South Africans return to South Africa after they were working and studying in Wuhan city, which was placed under lockdown for around two months after the novel virus was first detected in December. The returnees will only be released after they get a clean bill of health at the end of the mandatory quarantine. Government officials have assured that none of the group are infected by the virus and that the quarantine measures are only a precaution. IMAGES
