It is also a factory with highly skilled specialists manufacturing the A110 in Dieppe. Renault Sport Cars comprises a team of 300 people who are masters at developing sports cars. They gave Groupe Renault iconic products such as the R5 Turbo, Clio V6, Megane RS Trophy and the new Alpine A110. Renault Sport Racing, with its eponymous F1 team, gathers 1,200 people who develop the “grand complication watches of motorsport” with some of the best aerodynamicists, mechanics and powertrain engineers. The New Renault Mégane offers a renewed and modernized cockpit. It features new 9.3-inch multimedia screens and 10.2-inch dashboard screens and benefits from all the features of the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system. This system, whose operation is inspired by smartphone use, is designed to be ergonomic and more functional, for ease of use.To enhance safety and comfort for all, new driving aids are available. These include the Motorway and Traffic Assistant, an autonomous level 2 system that offers comfort and peace of mind behind the wheel.The New Renault Mégane gains in elegance and refinement, notably introducing new Pure Vision LED headlamps to improve visibility and comfort during journeys. The New Mégane thus reinforces its design and the dynamic lines that have made it such a success.As a pioneer and expert in electric mobility, Renault is giving the New Renault Mégane the benefit of the 160hp E-TECH Plug-in rechargeable hybrid engine. It benefits from a new technology that focuses on energy recovery and is directly inspired by our Formula 1 expertise.The E-TECH Plug-in technology was developed by Renault Engineering and is the subject of over 150 patents. It uses components designed within the Alliance, such as its new-generation 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and an innovative multimode gearbox. This clutchless transmission has excellent efficiency and barely noticeable gear changes.
The MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY-R set a new record of 2’25’’454 (more than 3s better than the previous record) on the prestigious Suzuka circuit in Japan, after its against-the-clock reference time on the famous Nordschleife at Nürburgring and its record at Spa-Francorchamps as part of R.S. Days, broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook. It is a major success in this country, which has some 10,000 TROPHY-R and Renault Sport fans: at the end of September 2019, Japan was Renault Sport's leading world market for the R.S. range, ahead of Germany and France, and the third for Mégane R.S., even though the Trophy version has not yet been launched there.
Over the last 15 years, the Megane-based Renault Sport versions have set the hot hatch standard for ultimate performance and driving thrills. In that time the most radical versions of the Megane RS have successively beaten the front-wheel drive production car lap record for the hugely challenging Nürburgring, a circuit that's recognised around the world as the ultimate proving ground for a car's performance.The New Renault Megane RS Trophy-R is no exception, setting a new record of 7 minutes 40.1 seconds around the tortuous track famously known as the 'Green Hell'. Yet unlike competitors that simply focus on delivering ever higher power outputs, the engineers at Renault Sport have concentrated on three distinct performance pillars: weight reduction, the maximisation of aerodynamic efficiency and more radical suspension systems. This approach is a Renault Sport trademark, an approach that priorities speed through the corners rather than outright performance in a straight line.Featuring an impressive weight reduction of 130kg, a totally redesigned suspension set-up and modified aerodynamics the New Megane RS Trophy-R is the most extreme Renault Sport model yet. It also boasts some innovations that are normally the preserve of high end supercars, such as the optional carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fibre wheels. And in its pursuit of undiluted driving pleasure it removes items such as the rear seats, while the composite Sabelt seats can be ordered with six-point racing harnesses - this is a car that puts the driver front and centre.
