Firefighters continue to battle a wildfire on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, forcing more evacuations as flames in some parts rose so high even water-dropping planes were unable to operate.

    Fuerteventura, Oct 11 (EFE).- Spain's Guardamar Talía rescued Monday 121 immigrants of sub-Saharan origin traveling in two inflatable boats near the south of Fuerteventura island, with 20 women and two minors on board, a spokeswoman for Maritime Rescue told EFE.The first boat was located about 97 kilometers south of Morro Jable town, with 51 men, 10 women and two children on board, while the second one was located by a rescue plane a little further north, about 53 kilometers from the island, with 48 men and 10 adult women.
