  • Thousands Affected by Floods in Northern California

    Following a series of drenching downpours, floods have forced over 14,000 people from their homes in a section of San Jose in Northern California. According to officials, San Jose has not seen a flood of this magnitude in over 20 years. The city of about 1 million suffered major flooding a day before on Tuesday when a large creek overran its banks, swamping the neighborhood of Rock Springs. In addition to the 14,000 who have been ordered to evacuate, the city has also reportedly issued a less severe evacuation warning to 22,000 other people in the area. According to the National Weather Service, light rain will resume around San Jose this weekend.

  • NoCal Rain Prompts Evactuations

    On Monday evacuations were ordered in Northern California. As downpours swelled creeks and rivers to potentially dangerous levels in the already soggy region, flash-flood warnings were issued elsewhere. Prompting an evacuation order for about 500 people living in mainly ranch and farmlands near Manteca, San Joaquin County, authorities said a levee broke along the San Joaquin River. The gap was filled and the leak halted Monday night.
