On critique souvent le retard technologique de l'Europe. Pourtant, toutes les grandes entreprises mondiales de la tech dépendent de deux sociétés européennes méconnues : ASML et Zeiss. Sans elles, plus de puces, plus de smartphones, plus d’IA. Explications en vidéo. Et si l’avenir de la tech mondiale ne se jouait pas en Californie… mais en Europe ? Au centre de cette course technologique se trouve un composant essentiel : le semi-conducteur. Ces puces, véritables cerveaux de nos appareils, alimentent smartphones, voitures, avions, consoles et intelligence artificielle. Le géant Taïwanais TSMC en est le principal fabricant. Mais dans l’ombre, il dépend d’un fournisseur encore plus stratégique… et européen. ASML, basée aux Pays-Bas, est aujourd'hui la seule société au monde à maîtriser la lithographie à extrême ultraviolet (EUV), une technologie indispensable pour produire les puces les plus avancées. Ses machines, vendues plus de 300 millions de dollars pièce, sont utilisées par tous les géants du secteur : Apple, Nvidia, Samsung, Intel...
