Images from a Hindu cremation ground in Kathmandu as Nepal witnesses an upsurge in Covid-19 cases and deaths. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has called for "urgent" international action to prevent "a worsening human catastrophe" across South Asia. It highlighted the case of Nepal where it said "many hospitals are full and overflowing" with Covid-19 patients and that the daily caseload is 57 times higher than one month ago. IMAGES
La commune de Cornimont dans les Vosges s'est inspirée d'une coutume alsacienne. Après Noe¨l, les habitants se réunissent autour d'un feu de joie fait des sapins de Noël dépouillés de leurs décorations. A la nuit tombée, les habitants partagent ce moment convivial autour de boissons chaudes et autres gourmandises, telles que des marshmallows grillés.
Les Thannois célébraient hier soir leur saint patron, Saint-Thiébaut. Une tradition qui se répète chaque 30 juin et qui, en souvenir de la légende de la création de la ville, vise à brûler trois sapins sur le parvis de la collégiale. Cinq crémateurs ont été désignés cette année par le maire de Thann, Romain Luttringer, pour mettre le feu aux sapins. La soirée s'est achevée avec le traditionnel feu d'artifice.
