More than two dozen Palestinian cancer patients, who have crossed from Gaza into Egypt, arrive in Turkey for treatment in the early hours of Thursday. Two planes carrying the patients, many of them children, landed at Ankara airport shortly after 00:30 am local time (2130 GMT). IMAGES

A commonly prescribed treatment for people suffering from chronic back pain may not be providing any relief. A new review suggests that antidepressants when prescribed for chronic pain, provide little to no back pain relief. The review did find that the medications could however offer a modest benefit for osteoarthritis and sciatica. Their review looked at data from 33 clinical trials studying the use of antidepressants for chronic pain. Antidepressants are frequently prescribed by doctors to help chronic pain sufferers with their mental distress.
A new analysis by the American Cancer Society reveals death from cancer in the United States fell 31% between 1991 and 2018. Nevertheless, the organization also estimates that this year, nearly 1.9 million people will be diagnosed with cancer and more than 600,000 will die from it. According to UPI, cancer remains the second-leading cause of death in the United States. Significant gains have been made in four of the deadliest and most common cancer, namely lung, breast, colorectal, and prostate. Lung cancer is still the most common cause of cancer death nationally. However, the data showed death rates for the disease fell 2.4% annually between 2009 and 2013 and 5% annually between 2014 and 2018.
