French stations ski were taken aback by Presidential Macron ruling out their reopening for Christmas, but they still hope to be able to convince the government to change its mind.
French alpine resorts in the Haute-Savoie may be deprived of downhill skiing this season due to the ongoing lift closures but plenty of alternative activities are on offer in a bid to keep tourism going despite the virus. In Les Contamines-Montjoie, Héléna, Manon, Charles and their parents declare themselves delighted to "discover other sports and other ways of living in the mountains".
