Biden Transition Can Formally Begin

Description

(CNN)The General Services Administration has informed President-elect Joe Biden that the Trump administration is ready to begin the formal transition process, according to a letter from Administrator Emily Murphy sent Monday afternoon and obtained by CNN. The letter is the first step the administration has taken to acknowledge President Donald Trump's defeat, more than two weeks after Biden was declared the winner in the election. The move will allow the transition to officially begin, permitting current administration agency officials to coordinate with the incoming Biden team, and providing millions in government funding for the transition.

  • Far From Raising A Glass To The Bidens, The Trumps Are Raising Something Else

On the morning of January 20, 2021, Donald Trump and Melania Trump will depart the White House as President and first lady. According to tradition and proper White House etiquette, the outgoing First Couple observes a number of protocols in the peaceful transition of power. But the Trumps have no intention of doing so. Rather than offering the hand of friendship, they will be raising their well-manicured middle fingers. CNN reports the Trumps have refused to invite the Bidens inside the White House before departing. Nor will they welcome the Bidens on the steps of the North Portico, much less ride with them to the United States Capitol. After all, the outgoing President and his family have refused to attend President-elect Biden's inauguration ceremony entirely.

Several of the blocks also come from the Office of Management and Budget, says Business Insider. "Right now, we just aren't getting all the information we need from the outgoing administration in key national security areas." Biden over the past week has repeatedly expressed concern about the lack of access he's received. The shutout follows alongside the SolarWinds hack and amid tensions with Iran.
