China's plan to hike retirement age stirs public debate

Beijing, Dec 1 (EFE/EPA).- The decision by the Communist Party of China to raise one of the world's lowest retirement ages has sparked widespread debate on social media. The plan comes as the country tries to cope with a rapidly ageing population. Retirement age in China has remained unchanged for more than four decades at 60 for men, and 55 for female civil servants and white-collar workers.
