President Donald Trump and his family appear to be making preparations to vacate the White House, despite his insistence he secretly won the election. Business Insider reports Trump has asked for renovations to be made to his Mar-a-Lago residence as the first family considers moving to Florida. The White House has not made any official announcement about Trump's post-presidency plans. First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly also looking for schools around the Palm Beach area and neighboring Broward County for son Barron, 14. Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner seem to be steering away from New York City, where they were once prominent Manhattan socialites.
The resumes of former White House staff usually go straight to the top of the pile when it comes to getting top jobs. After all, they've had the unparalleled experience of years of dealing with some of the toughest crises in government. But according to Business Insider, Trump administration staffers aren't finding such a post-POTUS cushy landing. As businesses begin to shun Trump enterprises, one PR recruiter said they had received inquiries from at least 15 people from the White House looking for jobs. The headhunter took on six people as clients, but none were able to even secure an interview with corporations they had applied to. It's just very hard. Meanwhile, the heads of the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security--and the President himself--have remained essentially silent. But according to CNN, the Federal Bureau of Investigation means business. And FBI Director Christopher Wray doesn't mind saying so. Wray says the agency is monitoring 'extensive' online chatter about future protests and warned the men and women who wreaked havoc on the Capitol. Mar-a-Lago is President Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach, Florida. Business Insider reports that Mar-a-lago is the First Family's "gilded getaway." It's where the Trumps are widely speculated to retreat to following Trump's exit from office. Trump's neighbors aren't thrilled at the prospect of the former President moving in next door. The luxe property was closed for about 57 days amid the coronavirus pandemic. It has previously hosted visitors like the prime minister of Japan.
