NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg says that he expects the United States to remain a key ally in NATO "regardless of the outcome" of the presidential election ahead of a debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. "I expect that regardless of the outcome of the US elections, the US will remain a strong NATO ally because that is in the security interest of the United States. The UK Conservative Party's "1922 Committee" announces the results from the latest round of voting in the party leadership contest. The fight for second place is tightening between former defence minister Penny Mordaunt (second place with 92 votes) and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss (third place with 86 votes).
