The chief executive of Britain's independent medicines regulator, June Raine, announces that out of 79 cases of blood clots in people having received a first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, 19 people have died, during a press conference over concerns about links between AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine and blood clots. The EU's medicines regulator says it cannot rule out a link between the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine and a rare clotting disorder, despite insisting the vaccine is safe. SOUNDBITE
Executive Director of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Emer Cook says the AstraZeneca vaccine is "safe and effective" and not associated with a higher blood clot risk, after more than a dozen countries paused rollouts over health fears. IMAGES
