UK leader Rishi Sunak announces after his trip to the Middle East that Britain is sending an additional £20 million ($24 million) of aid to help civilians in Gaza affected by the war between Israel and Hamas. SOUNDBITE
The World Health Organization (WHO) says it will send more than one million polio vaccines to war-torn Gaza after the virus was detected in wastewater there. The UN agency's chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, adds that the vaccines "will be administered in the coming weeks". SOUNDBITE
The UN humanitarian coordinator for Gaza says that 1.9 million people are now displaced in the territory, adding she is "deeply concerned" by reports of new evacuation orders for Khan Yunis. SOUNDBITE
UNRWA has funding until the "end of August", explains the agency's Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, as he delivers a press briefing on the situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. "I was referring to our regular budget, which basically covers the 30,000 staff" Lazzarini says, adding that UNRWA still has "a shortfall of about 100-140 million dollars to bridge the end of the year."
