Protests in Panama to seek justice for alleged victims of abuses by religious leaders

Panama City, Feb 22 (EFE).- Protests in rejection of the abuses of minors by religious leaders continued Monday in Panama.The National Assembly's Commission for Women, Children, Youth and the Family is investigating a case of systemic abuse over the years of dozens of minors in state-run shelters.Protesters also condemned the Government of President Laurentino Cortizo and the late reaction, labeled as insubstantial by human rights activists and the opposition.More than 200 protesters gathered outside the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, partially blocking an important road artery and demanding justice for the child victims and jail for those responsible for the abuses.(Camera: CARLOS LEMOS)SHOT LIST: PROTESTS IN PANAMA CITY SEEKING JUSTICE AGAINST RELIGIOUS LEADERS WHO ALLEGEDLY SEXUALLY ABUSED YOUNG GIRLS IN PANAMA.
