Dhaka, May 19 (EFE/EPA).- Bangladeshi journalists protested for the second day on Wednesday, demanding the release of a female investigative reporter arrested on charges of stealing confidential government documents.A Dhaka court sent journalist Rozina Islam, 42, a senior reporter with Prothom Alo newspaper, one of the largest circulated in the country, to judicial custody on Tuesday after police charged her with a colonial-era law, the Official Secrets Act.The court will hear her bail application on Thursday. Dhaka, Mar 1(EFE/EPA).- Hundreds of people rallied on Monday in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, to reiterate their concerns over the Digital Security Act 2018, which they claim hampers the freedom of the press and free speech.The law - proposed by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, penalizes "negative propaganda" against former-president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hasina's father, or against Bangladesh's Liberation War.It also states that publication of "false and distorted" information against the state or "spreading rumors" will be punishable by up to three years in jail.
