Kolkata, May 22 (EFE/EPA).- India on Saturday recorded more than 4,000 coronavirus deaths for the second straight day while daily cases continued to decline amid a record number of PCR tests to detect fresh infections.The South Asian country reported 4,194 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 295,525 since the start of the pandemic, according to federal health ministry data.The number of daily cases continued its down trend with 257,299 infections in the last 24 hours, as against the 400,000 cases registered almost regularly some two weeks ago. Kolkata, May 19 (EFE/EPA).- India reported Wednesday a new record in the number of Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, which crossed the 4,500 barrier for the first time, while the number of fresh infections continued to show a downward trend.According to the Health Ministry, India recorded 4,529 deaths, taking the total to 283,248 since the start of the pandemic, only behind the United States and Brazil.Meanwhile, the daily coronavirus cases continued to show a downward trend with 267,334 fresh infections compared to the record highs of 400,000 registered a few weeks ago. Bangalore, May 18 (EFE/EPA).- India surpassed 25 million cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday since the start of the pandemic, despite a decline in infections in recent days, while also recording a new daily record of 4,329 deaths.The country registered 263,533 infections in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Indian Ministry of Health, the lowest number in a month after India reported a record of over 400,000 cases everyday two weeks ago.The total Covid-19 toll now stands at 25.2 million cases - second highest after the United States - and 278,719 deaths - third highest after the US and Brazil.
