With the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, the brand with the three-pointed star presents the first fully electric variant of its off-road icon. It symbolises the fusion of tradition and progress like no other. The all-new electric G-Class remains true to the model’s character, retaining its angular silhouette including all iconic elements. Like the conventionally powered variants, its body is built on a ladder frame. The development team has modified and reinforced this to integrate the electric drive. Also retained is the combination of independent front suspension with double wishbones and newly developed rigid rear axle. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame ensures a low centre of gravity. With its usable capacity of 116 kWh, it provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres according to WLTP.The four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels develop a maximum total output of 432 kW. Together with the selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction, they enable unique driving characteristics and exclusive functions. This allows G-TURN to turn the vehicle almost on the spot on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function can deliver a significantly smaller turning circle when driving off-road. The three-speed intelligent off-road crawl function is like cruise control for off-roading – maintaining optimum propulsion while the driver focuses on navigating the terrain.Like the tried-and-tested variants, the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology has a gradeability of up to 100% on suitable surfaces. The vehicle remains stable on sideways slopes of up to 35 degrees. With a maximum fording depth of 850 millimetres, the electric G‑Class outperforms its conventionally powered counterparts by 150 millimetres. The LOW RANGE off-road gearing increases propulsion with a special reduction ratio. The all-new model generates the function of conventional differential locks virtually using intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR brings a unique sound experience to the all-new electric G-Class. In addition to a characteristic, G-Class-specific driving sound, it includes one “aura” sound and a variety of “event” sounds.
A significant contribution to the increased attractiveness of the Yaris is made by the further developed full hybrid drive, which contributes to a more active and exciting driving experience. In addition to the proven drive with 116 hp, Toyota also offers the 1.5-liter hybrid in a second performance variant with 130 hp.This is due to the use of the new transaxle transmission, which comes from Toyota's current fifth hybrid generation. In addition, a larger and more powerful electric motor generator is used. Together with the revised software of the control unit (PCU), the total output of the 1.5-liter system increases by twelve percent from 85 kW/116 hp to 96 kW/130 hp. The torque also increases significantly across the entire speed range: by 30 percent from 141 Nm to 185 Nm.This leads to noticeably faster acceleration. Not only was the time for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h reduced by half a second to 9.2 seconds, the acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h also improved by almost half a second to 7.5 seconds This particularly pays off when overtaking. At the same time, CO2 emissions have only increased slightly; The Yaris remains best in class as a 130 hp hybrid with 95 to 96 g/km. The 116 hp version boasts even lower CO2 emissions of 87 to 91 g/km.
With its first all-electric model, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the legendary brand is entering a new era - in line with Karl Maybach’s maxim: “What is good must also be beautiful”. The special exterior with an upright Mercedes star on the hood and a striking black panel front, which carries the specific Maybach radiator grille into the age of electromobility, ensures an unmistakable appearance. The optional two-tone paintwork is also typical of the brand. Thanks to exquisite materials, perfect craftsmanship and exclusive details, the spacious interior offers a holistic comfort experience with a cocooning effect. With its consistent interpretation of Sophisticated Luxury, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV sets the new benchmark in the all-electric top-end luxury SUV segment. In the U.S., the first vehicles are available at dealerships in the coming weeks. The market launch in China will start in spring 2024, followed by Europe.
