India records over 200,000 daily cases of COVID-19 for second consecutive day

Mumbai / Bangalore, Apr 16 (EFE/EPA).- India reported a record daily spike of more than 217,000 coronavirus infections on Friday, continuing with its rapidly increasing trend that has added nearly 1.5 million cases in the last 10 days.It was the second consecutive day when the country reported more than 200,000 cases in 24 hours.Federal health ministry data showed that India recorded 217,353 new infections in the last 24 hours while deaths from Covid-19 rose by 1,185, increasing the overall toll to 174,308.
