Indonesia bans Eid-al-Fitr travel amid coronavirus pandemic

Jakarta, May 6 (EFE/EPA).- Indonesia has implemented travel restrictions during Eid-al-Fitr in order to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Indonesian government strictly prohibits people from carrying out Eid-al-Fitr homecoming activities this year to protect the community from coronavirus transmission between 6 and 17 May 2021. Millions of people across Indonesia usually travel back to their hometowns to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important holidays in the country, with loved ones.
