Rare video captured by divers shows a 2.5-metre giant squid swimming in the waters off Japan's west coast. Giant squid are known to live in the waters around the country and occasionally wash ashore, but seeing them alive in the wild remains relatively rare.
A giant squid of over three metres was sighted alive on a shore in western Japan on Wednesday. Giant squid live in the deep sea, and is unusual for it to be washed ashore alive. The squid measured 3.35 metres in total length and has now been transported to a local aquarium.
