Hundreds of people gather in the South African town of Cape Town for a pro-Palestinian march, amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Chanting slogans and carrying flags, banners and signs, the crowd moved through the streets. The war started after Hamas's October 7 attack on southern Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,170 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of Israeli official figures. Israel's retaliatory offensive has killed at least 34,535 people in Gaza, mostly women and children according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. IMAGES
Istanbul, May 9 (EFE/EPA).- Hundreds of protesters gathered on Sunday outside Israeli consulate in Istanbul to show solidarity with Palestinians.The Israeli Supreme Court had postponed the 10 May hearing into the ruling by an Israeli court in East Jerusalem that ordered the forced eviction of six Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in favor of Jewish families who claimed they used to live in the houses before fleeing in the 1948 war that led to the creation of Israel. Thousands of Israelis, including right-wing groups, are expected to join the 'Flag March' on 10 May which is considered 'Jerusalem Day', an Israeli national holiday that celebrates the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in the aftermath of the June 1967 Six-Day War. Images of several hundred demonstrators marching in Paris to denounce the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip almost six months after the start of the war.
