New GOP Congressman Labels COVID Pandemic "Phony"

On Saturday, GOP Rep-Elect Bob Good of Virginia labeled the coronavirus pandemic as "phony." Good made the remarks at a rally in support of President Donald Trump in Washington, DC. Business Insider reports he told the crowd they looked like a group of people that get that this is a phony pandemic." "It's a serious virus, but it's a virus. It's not a pandemic ... You get it. You stand up against tyranny." Just a day earlier, the US had roughly 231,000 new coronavirus infections and over 3,300 COVID-19 deaths. Both of those are record numbers for the country, according to the latest data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

Any 50-50 ties will be broken by incoming Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

    Alaska Rep. Don Young is the longest-serving current member of the US Congress. Young has previously called the novel coronavirus COVID-19 the 'beer virus,' and said claims of its severity were exaggerated. Now, Business Insider reports the 87-year-old has tested positive for COVID-19. On Thursday, he tweeted he was feeling 'strong' following his diagnosis. Over the past week, approximately 5% of all COVID-19 tests administered in Alaska have come back positive. There have so far been 22,405 confirmed cases of the disease in Alaska and just under 100 confirmed deaths.
