Colombo, Jul 7 (EFE/EPA).- Following approval by the World Health Organisation for Pfizer- BioNTech and Moderna vaccines to be administered as the second dose for those who have received Astra-Zeneca as the first dose, Sri Lanka is the third South Asian country to receive and begin the vaccination process. Maldives and Bangladesh are the first and second countries respectively to receive this vaccine through the WHO’s COVAX facility, according to the UNICEF. Sri Lanka has so far recorded a total of 267433 COVID-19 cases with 3313 deaths while a total of 3244417 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 1284531 have already received the second one.
