London, Sep 24 (EFE), (Camera: Will Oliver).- The UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer unveiled the government’s new job protection program which is to replace the furlough scheme first announced at the end of March. Under the new scheme, which is to come into effect for six months at the end of October, the government will pay a third of the wages for hours not worked by an employee while the company will cover 22 percent of the salaries for workers who have seen their hours reduced as a result of the pandemic. Under the original furlough scheme, the government paid 80 percent of the salaries for people in that category. FOOTAGE OF LONDON.
