At that very particular, tragic moment, for Italy, the monument fell into a surreal silence.""It is also an opportunity for a positive change in tourism, a more sustainable kind. A type of tourism that can be compatible with our cities and our citizens' well-being.""We used to have around 20,000 visitors per day. We closed last year with 7 and a half million visitors.""The discovery we have made during confinement: a series of graffiti that tells the story of the monument after its abandonment, from the Middle Ages to around 1600."-FRANCESCO AND NATALE, VISITORS:"I have entered the Colosseum after 30 years. For us it is beautiful, but we miss the tourists.""It is a privilege, but something is missing. Empty Rome hurts us. The tourists are missing and we hope to return to the old days."
