Beirut (Lebanon), Dec 24 (EFE), (Camera: Noemí Jabois / Anna María Guzelian).- After a very difficult year in Beirut, marked by the explosion that hit the city's port and left 200 dead, 6,500 injured and some 300,000 homeless and also by the coronavirus pandemic, Christmas celebrations will be totally different this year. SOUNDBITES OF:-MARIE DEEB AND MICHEL DEEB, 54 YEARS OLD:"We are happy with it and this is the best celebration of all our festivities, but the situation does not allow us to prepare them or be happy as before. This is our problem, we have children and grandchildren and we are obliged to be with them, sit with them and pretend that we are happy, even though we are not. " -MICHEL DEEB, 70 YEARS OLD: "I wish Lebanon to be a thousand times better and that the people live in peace. It has been enough, we are disgusted, it has been 40 years of wars and damage. I don't know what one should say, no matter how much we say, it will not be enough".
