Philippines celebrates New Year's eve with restrictions on fireworks, firecracker

Description

Manila, Dec 31 (EFE/EPA).- Philippine celebrated New Year's eve on Thursday night as the capital of Metro Manila and several regions in the country issued bans on use of firecrackers and fireworks in household areas and public spaces, limiting fireworks displays marking the New Year to a few venues specifically authorized by local government units. The ban comes as authorities aim to prevent mass gatherings of revelers to curb the spread of COVID 19 and avoid firecracker related injuries.
