Donations To Democratic Contender In Georgia Runoff Breaks All-Time Record

In the critical runoff election in Georgia, Democrat Jon Ossoff is vying to oust the incumbent Republican Sen. David Perdue. Now, Business Insider reports Ossoff has become the highest-funded candidate for Senate in US history. The Federal Election Commission says Ossoff raised $106.7 million between October 15 and December 16. The Democrat Rev. Raphael Warnock is running against GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler. He raised $103.3 million during the same time. The race has drawn national attention because the victors will determine whether Republicans maintain control of the Senate.

    Decision Desk HQ and Insider have announced that President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris have won Georgia. It's the first Democratic presidential victory in the state since Bill Clinton's narrow win in 1992, and earns Biden the state's 16 electoral votes.     Renowned Russian adventurer and Orthodox priest Fyodor Konyukhov set a new world record when he successfully landed with his crew in his hot air balloon near Saratov on Thursday, after flying the balloon for more than 55 hours. The record-breaking voyage began on February 7 in the city of Rybinsk and covered a total distance of 640 miles across Russia. During the flight, the balloon reached the height of between 620 and 980 feet, flying at a speed of between 6 and 25 miles per hour. The endurance trip took the crew over many of Russian Orthodoxy's best known landmarks and churches. Konyukhov's flight exceeded the previous world record for a non-stop flight in a 9 000 to 12 000 m³ category hot air balloon, which was set by Japanese pilots Hirazuki Takezava and Michio Kanda in 1997, by more than four hours.
