Hassane Bande chested home the ball six minutes before halftime to give Burkina Faso a 1-0 win over the Cape Verde Islands at the Africa Cup of Nations finals on Thursday. Mohamed Salah equalised for the Pharao's before setting up Trézeéguet in extra time to knock out the Atlas Lions. In the other game, Senegal's Sadio Mané returned to set up Famara Diedhiou for their opener only for Equatorial Guinea to respond through Jannick Buyla. But Cheikhou Kouyaté & Ismaïla Sarr made sure of the 3-1 win for the Lions of Teranga.
Senegal continued their quest to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time with a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde. The Blue Sharks had two players sent off while Senegal’s Sadio Mané scored but was subbed for a concussion. Elsewhere, Morocco secured a 2-1 win over Malawi with two goal of the tournament contenders in the match. Gabadinho Mhango's 42-metre strike was cancelled out by Youssef En-Nesyri before Achraf Hakimi's free kick won the game for the Atlas Lions.
