As campaigning wraps up, polls are pointing to an edge for the centre-right after eight years of Socialist rule, and huge gains for the far-right. President of the centre-right Social-Democratic Party Partido Social Democrata (PSD) since May 2022, Luis Montenegro holds his final rally ahead of the March 10 general election. The 51-year-old led its parliamentary group when it was in power from 2011 to 2015 and imposed severe austerity measures.
