All-new Honda Civic e:HEV Trailer

Description

The all-new Honda Civic has been engineered to ensure that its e:HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) powertrain, steering and suspension deliver the engaging levels of performance, dynamic response and feedback that have always been central to the Civic’s appeal. The result is a car that blends a rewarding driving experience with highly competitive efficiency and emissions.Available later in 2022, the 11th generation Civic is the final mainstream Honda model to be electrified, following the CR-V, Honda e, Jazz, Jazz Crosstar, and HR-V. The car will feature the most advanced iteration of the brand’s award-winning e:HEV full-hybrid powertrain. This combines a power-dense lithium-ion battery and two compact, powerful electric motors with a newly-developed 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, which achieves industry-best equalling 41% thermal efficiency and features a direct injection system optimised for faster and more efficient combustion and greater torque output. In addition to direct injection system, a number of technologies such as low temperature active catalyst, and a modified design on intake port help contribute to improved fuel economy whilst achieving specific output. The result of these technological advancements is a WLTP ‘Combined’ CO2 emission figure of just 108g/km (WLTP), with fuel economy an equally impressive 4.7l/100km. This exceptional efficiency is combined with a maximum power output of 135kW/ 184PS and 315Nm maximum torque, ensuring the all new Civic is a compelling driver’s car within the C-segment.

  • Honda Civic - Crash & Safety Tests - 2022

The all-new Honda Civic e:HEV has been awarded the maximum five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. Embodying Honda’s commitment to zero road fatalities involving any of its products by 2050, the 11th generation Civic features a number of improved and upgraded technologies to achieve one of the highest level of passenger and pedestrian safety in its class. To meet stringent Euro NCAP crash impact safety standards for Adult Occupant Protection, the Civic’s body incorporates a number of structural braces to enhance the overall passive safety of the vehicle. This includes additional front door stiffeners and rear wheel arch frames that improve side impact performance. These are joined by a full-width brace that supports the joining edge between the floor and resin bulkhead, to help control and limit deformation in the event of a head on or offset frontal collision. In addition to the stronger, more protective chassis, all trim variants of the new Civic incorporate a total of 11 airbags as standard, including knee airbags for both front occupants to reduce injury during front impacts and side airbags to protect front and rear seat passengers. A front centre airbag features for the first time, which prevents a collision between the driver and front passenger during a side impact. This level of protection is extended to all occupants of the all-new Civic, not just adults. The car also scored well in the Child Occupant Protection category thanks to the integrated ISOFIX mounting points that conform to the latest European i-Size standards.

  • 2022 Honda Civic e:HEV in Blue Driving Video

First introduced in 1972, Honda has always defined the Civic as a ‘car for people of the world’. Now, building on 50 years of heritage and with over 27.5 million units sold across 170 countries, the 11th generation Civic represents a modern evolution of the model’s distinctive shape, and echoes the noiseless, elegant design that we have seen in recent Honda models introduced to Europe.Honda engineers followed a development ethos of ‘Exhilarating Civic’, focussing on how exterior and interior packaging can work together to create a more comfortable and refreshing in-car experience that will enhance owners’ everyday lives. By applying a unique human-centred approach to dynamics, design and usability, Honda has created a cabin with greater comfort, visibility and spaciousness than ever before.Following Honda’s ‘Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum’ (M/M) development approach – which is based on the principle that the purpose of technology and design is to serve the needs of the driver and passengers – has resulted in an exhilarating driving experience. The Civic inspires confidence through tactile touchpoints, engaging handling and dynamics, and a powerful yet efficient drivetrain suitable for all driving requirements.Honda’s proven e:HEV powertrain technology comes as standard, completing the brand’s mission to electrify all its mainstream European models by the end of 2022. The hybrid powertrain uses a lithium-ion battery to power two compact electric motors that work together with a 2.0-litre direct-injection petrol engine. It offers stunning all-round performance through impressive energy density, thermal efficiency, and torque. Thanks to a tailored application for the new Civic, the e:HEV system is smoother with a more responsive power delivery and a greater sense of linear acceleration, as well as offering exceptionally high fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions.
