French President Emmanuel Macron lays a wreath in front of the statue of General de Gaulle on the Place Clemenceau, at the bottom of the Avenue des Champs-Elysees and rekindles the flame of the Arc de Triomphe after a review of the troops, marking the 8 May 1945 when victory in Europe was declared by Allied forces.
