  • Russia's war on Ukraine: 'It's going spectacularly wrong'

The United Nations said on Thursday that at least 1,035 civilians have been killed and 1,650 wounded in one month of war in Ukraine. And nearly 3.7 million people have fled Ukraine since Russia's invasion began. The UN warns that half of the country's children are now displaced. As Russia's invasion enters its second month, France 24 is joined by Dr. Natasha Kuhrt, Lecturer in International Peace & Security in the Department of War Studies at King's College London. Dr. Kuhrt describes how Russia's war effort has not been going to plan for Vladimir Putin. She highlights how the Russians were not at all prepared for urban warfare. And now Russia is basically "hemorrhaging" troops: "We're seeing the reports of very high numbers of casualties and, in fact, there was even [...] a Russian newspaper releasing figures showing 10,000 or more Russian casualties, only for that story to then suddenly, magically, disappear."
